Tran Duc Mau, vice chairman of the Committee for Vietnamese Overseas under the Foreign Affairs Ministry, said the event will also highlight governmental assistance to the overseas Vietnamese (Viet Kieu) community.
Other major topics include the development of traditional Vietnamese culture and encouraging Viet Kieu professionals and entrepreneurs to work in the country.
Vietnamese-German, Meyer Bui Thi Thu Minh, said that the conference should build until it is a forum so that Viet Kieu can work with the government in exploring business opportunities together.
There are four million overseas Vietnamese living in 100 nations and territories worldwide.
This year, the Viet Kieu community remitted US$6.8 billion to relatives or businesses in Vietnam, a decline of $400 million over 2008.
They invested in about 3,000 projects with a total investment capital of $2 billion, according to the Committee.
